Add a file

If you have information in a readable file, it's useful to upload it as such, rather than copy all the information into a Wiki page.
When you do this, note two things:

  • The file needs to be accessible, so you'll need to make a link to the file from a Wiki page
  • In Wikidot, the file must be 'attached' to the page that it is linked from.

To do this:

  1. Attach the file to the page:
    1. Go to the page you want to attach the file to.
    2. Click the link 'Files' at the bottom of the page.
    3. Click 'Upload a file from your computer'.
    4. Click the button 'Select files'. This will open a browsing window which lets you pick your file.
  2. Create the link on the page:
    1. Open the editor by clicking 'Edit' at the bottom of the page
    2. At the place you want the link to be, type: [[file filename.doc]] or [[file filename.doc | link text]], where filename.doc is the name of your file, and link text is the text reading in the link (if other than the file name).
